Sports are 99% Mental

If you watched Rory McIlroy's back 9 yesterday you won't be able to argue that the pressures of Master's Sunday as well as Tiger's resurgence completely shattered and shook the 21 year old, 3 day leader, of the event. I mean it was simply amazing to see McIlroy's meltdown, in fact it was epic. You have to sympathize with the guy, he hits one horrific drive, and he completely collapses. 3 days of great play, and one drive destroyed this kid's confidence. People have been ripping Rory's mental fortitude all over the place, and I agree with them; he's gotta be able to refocus and align his thoughts enough not to go +7 on the most important 9 holes of his life. But rather than rip this guy I think we all need to wonder at the amazing factor that the mind plays in athletics. It was truly astounding, Rory hits one drive 700 yards left into a dude's front porch, and next thing you know he's hitting trees right in front of him, hooking drives, and missing 3 foot double bogey putts. Dude's mind must have been spinning faster than the those weird training things NASA uses on the chimps and whatever. When you see something like that it humanizes the athlete for you, makes you realize that they feel the same emotions we all feel. Makes guys like MJ, Tom Brady, and yesterday Charl Schwartzel seem even that more amazing. Talking about guys that can block out the crowds and the pressures and focus in extreme situations, harnessing the mental aspect of the sports the play. Mental Toughness: Definitely the most underrated skill.

Time to Panic?

I didn't want to ruin an otherwise glorious sports day yesterday with this bad news, but the Celtics are in trouble. I know, I know, last year they played .500 ball for the last couple months and came within a quarter of winning the NBA title. But since trading Perk the Cs are a very average, 9-10 and just look a little bit lost. Problem is, they're soft in the middle. With no Perk as the backbone if guys get into the lane, much of the Celtics playoff success is going to rely on the return of a HEALTHY Shaq. It's very possible Shaq comes back, Rondo and the Big 3 get their shit together again and we're hanging banner #18, but that's a very big if. The Celts got manhandled yesterday. Aside from Jermaine O'Neil laying the lumber on Lebron (which I loved and was completely surprised to see out of him) the Heat controlled the paint. 42-26 rebounding edge and 44-26 edge in points in the paint. I'm not saying it's time to quit watching the Celtics and that they don't have a shot in hell. We've seen this before where they play terribly down the stretch and then flip the switch and turn it on for the playoffs. Banner #18 isn't out of reach, but I'm certainly starting to get a little nervous.

P.S. Lebron's a bitch.

Unbelievable Scene of the Day

We needed that. We really needed that. Taking two of three from Yanks can only mean things are looking up. We've got the lowly Rays coming in tomorrow and Mucc is going to be putting down Fenway Franks and making sure Johnny Damon remembers where it all began. This unbelievable scene is all about Josh Beckett tonight. Big players make big plays in big situations and Beckett locked down an A-Rod less (he sat out tonight with a tummy ache, big bitch) Yankee lineup for 8 innings tonight. We had just enough offense tonight to get the job done and this was the kind of marquee win we needed to get us on the right track. And, as always, tonight was no different, Yankees suck!

Unbelievable Scenes

P.S. I get chills watching that video. Those guys certainly knew a thing or two about turning things around. Kevin Millar was in the box with Theo at Fenway tonight. I love that guy. We're coming back from this.

Sunday at The Masters

Holy shit. Down 6 strokes going into Sunday. There was no way Tiger had a shot in hell at taking home a Masters title, but low and behold, couple birdies to start off, bangs home an eagle and he's finished his front nine and is tied for the lead. This is why the Masters is an unbelievable event. It's Sundays like this where one guy is holding on for his livlihood and another his going balls to the walls to put on that green jacket.
McIlroy must be shitting his pants right now. He hears the galleries up ahead. He knows Tiger is making moves, but that's not why he's scared. He's scared because a man who has seen the highest of highs and has recently seen the lowest of lows has found something. He's found something deep down inside him. Something America's been waiting for. Something that took an eagle on the 8th to return to Tiger after over a year of absense. Tiger's got his swag back. Watch out. Stay tuned.

Wake Up-Would You Rather

Now that spring is here, the skin is starting to come out. Guest writer Chef DalĂ© already commented on how great this is for guys. So here’s a would you rather where either way you can’t lose. Would you rather see a girl in a mini skirt or in yoga pants.

For this one, my vote goes to the yoga pants. While a mini skirt is great for showing off some skin, it can often hide a girl’s best asset: her ass. Yoga pants were designed by God to show off a girl’s ass. Nothing is better than a girl with a nice ass in some yoga pants. Being a huge fan of a girl’s ass too, yoga pants are just the holy grail of clothing for me. Now I’m not saying I don’t like mini skirts, remember I said you can’t lose in this WYR. They’re wonderful, showing as much skin as possible without having a bathing suit on. But a mini skirt does not form to the ass as perfectly as yoga pants, so they're number two in my book. So for all you ass men out there, let your voice be heard and vote with me.

What do you have to say now Cstokefuckface? Like that's an athletic movement if I've ever seen one. Just roccodinho's boy wall flipping at Agganis Arena right in BU's grill. Your move BU, BC parkour lives.
