Should it be Butler, should it be UCONN? Nah. Neither. Because today a championship was won. India, a nation of more than 1 billion won their first Cricket world cup in 30 years. Why do we care? 1) because cricket is the sickest sport no one pays attention to, and 2) because 1 billion people of a world of 6 billion celebrated today because of a sport. 1/6th of our planet bonded together and partied all night because of a game, and a team; because of pride. This is why when people say "it's just a game" hardcore meatheads like me get all fired up. Because as the people in India would tell you, it is much more than a game. For one night Indians from Kolkata to Mumbai could forget poverty, over-population, any hatred, animosity, or anything else that they struggle with, for they could all celebrate one thing: the fact that they were World Champions.
