Are The Bruins Saving Boston Sports?

I'm not trying to say Boston Sports needs saving (as evidence of a great Sox win last night) but, I've watched every minute of every Bruins playoff game, and probably a handful more regular season games than a lot of the bandwagoners that are watching and tweeting about the B's now (not saying bandwagoners aren't hardcore and the more Bostoners the better). But after last night's 4-0 romp over the Cannucks, I don't think I've ever seen a team play more true to their identity than the Bruins. It's just refreshing. I think since the Dallas Stars game in like mid-january when the B's needed a big win, and they decided to fight the Stars 3 times before the puck dropped, the B's have been the most honest team in all of sport. Every interview, every postgame presser, every shift, the Bruins have maintained that they are a punch you in the mouth, intimidate you, grind it out, scare your wife and kids type of club. They have committed to working hard and instead of talking about it in the media, or simply saying they need to work harder or what not, they've just done it. The Bruins are what we use to love about teams like the Patriots, or any other Boston team for that matter. A bunch of guys who who don't know their wives (nathan horton not withstanding), who don't model for jockey, who don't care abut anything else except winning. It's just the whole 2001 Patriots mantra of "hey, I'm going to hit you when you have the ball, when you don't have the ball, when you're on the sideline, and every time you look at me." This is some old school hockey indeed, but I like to think of it as some old school Boston: and I like it. Go B's.
