See here's the thing that baseball purists, and common fans alike seem to misinterpret about drug use during the 90's; almost everyone did it. Very few guys out there were clean, and very few guys out there were ignorant to the fact that other guys were using. Everyone did it, and everyone at least knew someone who did it. The only reason people get so up tight about guys like McGuire, and Bonds, and Manny, and Sosa, is because they used and were great. No one ever takes into account that the pitcher opposite most of these guys were using drugs too and just were shitty with them. To me, steroids or no steroids, hitting a baseball is hitting a baseball, it's still something you have to be extremely talented to do. Barry Bonds was a great player before he ever used drugs, and as he felt the pressures of needing to perform in an era of accepted PED use, he made the decision that almost all other big time ball players did in that era, he had a doc inject him with tigerblood. I'm not saying I condone steroid use, and I'm not saying Barry Bonds deserves his records (Roger Marris and Hank Aaron do) but I am saying that we all need to take a deep breath and look introspectively to finally realize hey, everybody did steroids in the 90's it was part of the game, just like hot dogs and beer were part of Babe Ruth's era. Just put an asterisk next to it and lets move on.
