Is Reggie a First Rounder?

So now that I've had time to digest the Reggie Jackson to the pro's thing, I got to doing some research on the man's chances in this June's draft, and this is what I found. Chad Ford of espn.com had to say:

Reggie Jackson, PG, Jr, Boston College*
Jackson is one of the true sleepers in this year's draft. He's coming off a terrific season at Boston College where he averaged 18 ppg, 4.5 apg, 4.3 rpg and shot an impressive 42 percent from three. He's long, athletic, has great quickness, can run a team and shoot the basketball. Those types of players are typically lottery picks at the end of the day. Scouts have been a little bit slower on the uptake with Jackson, but every NBA team I spoke with has him as a solid first-round pick. A few have him in the lottery. He's also the type that could really rise with terrific workouts. I expect he'll stay in the draft.

I have to admit, as much as I love Reggie and all he brought athletically to BC, I couldn't disagree with ford here more. Reggie's numbers are probably some of the most skewed in all of college basketball. In 3 games against Duke, and UNC (twice) Reggie scored a grand total of 26 points and shot a dismal 25% from the field. Also, in the two key games down the stretch, against Miami at home, and against Clemson in the ACC tourney Reggie scored a 15 and 11 pts respectively while turning the rock over a total of 9 times. And lastly, in the NIT round of 16 at home he scored 8 points on 2 of 11 shooting. Reggie disappeared in almost every big game this year, and at times played too passive, not attacking the rim enough, and not working hard enough to get open. I'll give it to you that he was great, and was great in a lot of games this year, and I'll continue to say that athletically he is right up there with the best in the draft, but one more year would be fantastic for him. Drafted now, Reggie is a prospect and a project because where Ford goes wrong here is that Reggie isn't that ready to run a team, and he isn't that great of a shooter. He is a good shooter but not NBA great, and as far as running the point, Reggie looked more lost sometimes than freshmen Gabe Moton did. Reggie is a great player, but not a lottery pick, even in this weak of a class.
